Foundation Systems

Going green with foundations and waterproofing leads to a healthier, higher quality home that is easy to maintain.

Poured concrete foundation Cement production is a major source of world carbon dioxide emissions. To reduce environmental impact, choose concrete with additives other than cement. As much as 50 percent of the Portland cement traditionally added to concrete can be replaced by recycled waste materials, including fly ash from coal fired power plants, microsilica, and ground blast furnace slag. Even better, these additives can increase strength, water resistance, and durability.

Insulated concrete forms Insulated concrete forms (ICFs) are innovative interlocking rigid foam blocks and panels that hold concrete in place while it cures and serve as an extra layer of insulation for the foundation once things have dried. Use ICFs in conjunction with concrete foundations for improved efficiency.

Pre-Cast Foundation Systems Pre-cast foundation systems, like the Superior Wall System, consist of pre-cast,studded concrete walls with built-in plumbing and electrical access holes. A continuous layer of insulation helps to create an airtight, energy efficient home. The 5000 psi concrete’s low water-to-cement ratio increases durability and prevents moisture transfer, which means less mold and fungus.
