Hardwood flooring Alternatives
The green revolution has brought many products into the mainstream that used to be considered fringe alternatives, including bamboo and cork flooring, tiles made from recycled glass, natural linoleum, recycled rubber tiles, and chlorine free resin tiles. Choose from a wide variety of high-performance green flooring options, from carpet and tile containing up to 70 percent post-consumer recycled glass, to sustainably harvested wood or recycled lumber. Even the adhesives required for proper floor installation are increasingly available in low-VOC formulations.
Bamboo Bamboo is a renewable material that can be as soft as pine and harder than maple, depending on the species of bamboo and the length of its harvest period.
Cork A strong, versatile surface that comes in many colors and shades, cork is renewable, resilient, anti-microbial &, resistant to fire and mold. Cork is harvested from the bark of oak trees in the Mediterranean, primarily in Portugal. The bark is gently peeled from the trees every nine years. Trees are not cut down or harmed in any way as they regenerate the bark.
