Wall Systems & Lumber

Harvesting lumber is environmentally costly. When using traditional lumber, choose suppliers who have adopted environmentally friendly standards established by the American Forest & Paper Association’s Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification System.

An alternative to traditional stick lumber, engineered wood offers a consistency that sets it apart from traditional lumber. Fabricated from dry materials to very tight manufacturing standards, wood I-joists generally do not shrink, warp, cup, crown, or twist. Plus, it can be manufactured in depths longer than 48 inches and lengths over 40 feet while using up to 60 percent less wood fiber than solid-sawn joists. On the job site there is little or no waste. In the manufacturing process, engineered lumber uses more of the tree for less waste and can also use smaller trees, which are more sustainable to harvest.
